Lighthouse of Hope Camp
Lighthouse of Hope Camp offers two types of ministry each summer.
Evangelistic camp sessions provide non-Christians the chance to
hear about Christ and see Him in the lives of people around them.
Usually 90% of the campers who attend these sessions are non-Christians.
Discipleship sessions challenge Christians in their walk with God.
The main purpose is to provide immediate follow up to those who
became Christians from the previous sessions in an atmosphere of
fellowship with other believers. In either session, Christians are
given the opportunity to creatively serve Christ in a ministry that
is fit for them.
History
Lighthouse of Hope Camp began in 1997 with a 4-day session and
113 campers. It was obvious that a camping ministry for teenagers
is very effective. The following summer, LOH Camp had expanded to
two 6-day sessions with twice the amount of campers in attendance.
Until 2003, camp facilities in Voronezh and Lipetsk were rented,
but now LOH Camp has a permanent home at Transformation Christian
Center. LOH Camp began under the direction of Rick Kirschman, and
then was co-directed by Rick and former staff member Lyonya Maeltsev.
Misha Lukin has been the director since 2000. Campers come from
Tambov, Lipetsk, Voronezh and Morshansk, and after returning home
are followed up as a priority of the TELA staff. As a result, many
campers return to LOH Camp the following summer as part of the camp
staff.
